Emily and Paul met while studying abroad in Australia…and have been connected ever since. They were both in a lovely Monterey wedding I shot this summer, and when Emily asked me to be her photographer, I was thrilled to be working with them again. I flew up to San Francisco for their engagement photos, and we had such a fun time around the city, the weather was unseasonably warm, and we made it to many iconic locations. Thank you Emily + Paul for making my job so easy!
The stars aligned when Shaina asked me to shoot her maternity session. We were originally going to be shooting in her hometown of Orange County, but when she found out I'd be in New York the weekend before, we managed to squeeze in a time for photos. It was marathon Sunday, and the park was jammed with people and barricades. It took a bit of teamwork to find a meeting spot since we were coming from opposite ends of the park. We made ourselves at home in the Ramble. It was just before sunset, and the light was peaking through the trees. Such a perfect afternoon.
I recently photographed newborn baby Sophia, I had such a fun time during the maternity session, that when it came time to do her newborn shoot I couldn't wait! Sophia is an absolutely lovely little girl who made my job so easy! I love photographing newborns because they have so many different facial expressions, and when they sleep, it's positively angelic.
Cinta (sin-ta): crafted with purpose to bring you comfort, function & style. The name Cinta means "love" in Indonesian, "belt" in Spanish, and "hyacinth" in Greek. Cinta is a name so full of culture and personal meaning that when it came up during a brainstorming meeting, it just clicked.
Cinta has been my baby for the past year. I'm still in shock that my simple idea has materialized into an amazing reality. Last summer, during wedding season, I found myself wondering why I didn't have a camera strap that was not only functional, but stylish and comfortable as well. I thought a lot about what I wanted in a strap, drew up some sketches, and asked questions of friends in the apparel industry. It came down to having a sketch, finding materials, and getting a prototype made.
I am proud to present my first style, this 1-inch leather strap is adjustable and has a shoulder pad for added comfort. Straps are available in three colors and expertly hand-crafted in Los Angeles.
I have a few other designs up my sleeve, but for now...I am just incredibly excited about Cinta's debut! Check out the Cinta online store & Facebook page! Every two weeks a photographer will be featured on the Cinta blog...so if you have any favorite photos using your Cinta strap, send them in and you might just be showcased!
HUGE Thank yous are in order to some amazing people who supported me throughout this entire process:
First, a big thank you to my lovely graphic designer, Jenny Ambrose. I have worked with Jenny for the last 2 years on branding for my photography business, and when I had the idea for Cinta, Jenny was the first person I contacted. She is amazing to work with, and I couldn't speak more highly of her!
Dustin Davis, you're a rockstar. Dustin was referred to me by Kristy Behrs of Wreckless Creative (who did my website/blog design). Dustin was a dream to work with and took our design ideas and made the Cinta storefront a reality. I am so impressed by his talents and recommend him to anyone in need of some master coding and design!
Ala Cortez...ahhh...I love you!!! Thank you for shooting the lookbook for me! I am so lucky to call you a friend! And to my lovely models, Megan, Adam and Autym...you three killed it for me! Hope you like seeing your faces everywhere now :)
My wickedly talented cousin, Kevin, who really showed me the ropes early on in the process. I would not have come this far without your help!
And, Vinnie Finn, for shooting all of the product shots for me! You have been amazing throughout this process, and I totally appreciate all of the work you did!
I was pretty surprised when I found out that I would have an image in the May issue of Better Homes and Gardens. The lovely, Jordan Reid, was one of three bloggers chosen to talk about her favorite cleaning products. The profile photo they chose to feature in the article was one I took of her and her adorable family last year. I didn't receive photo credit, which is unfortunate, but I am just so happy to see one of my images in print!
It's quite intimidating photographing another photographer, especially someone I highly respect as a film photographer! Rachel and her family modeled for FIND LA a few weeks ago. Her adorable daughter, Nova, stole all of our hearts. Rachel is expecting a baby boy in a couple of weeks, so it was really nice getting to capture some moments of their family while they are still three.
Stephanie is expecting a baby girl next month, so I thought I should blog part of her session. We started indoors and made our way to the beach. It was an unseasonably warm day, so we were able to take some lovely relaxed shots.
Peyton Jane might just be the cutest baby name I've heard in a while. I photographed Nikki's maternity photos last summer, and could not wait to take some photos of the happy family. Their dog, Sage, was a total goofball throughout the shoot. I managed to snap a few with her behaving for the camera. Peyton's hair is so fun! It was great getting to capture this family in the outdoors, doing what they love best.
When I was in NYC for my short weekend trip in November, I had the pleasure of shooting Jordan Reid's newborn son. Time flies, and I am just now getting around to blogging their family session. I wanted the shoot to be a morning at home, and we achieved just that. I follow Jordan's blog, and felt like I already knew not only her, but her apartment as well. She's so open with her life and shares lots of DIY tips, recipes, and lifestyle posts. Her husband Kendrick was super sweet and amazing with their son, as were her pups, Lucy and Virgil! She blogged the session, check it out!
