Jill and Mike are the sweetest couple! They recently moved to California from New York City and wanted a beachy feel for their session. We met at the Malibu Beach Pier on one of the most perfect weather days and had the best time together. I am so happy with the way these images turned out, you can really see how much these two love each other.
Have you been thinking of having your portraits taken? Do you need any updated family photos? If so, let me know! I'd love to get you behind my lens.
After Melissa and Ryan's wedding was featured on 100 Layer Cake a few months ago, I was contacted by the editors of UK publication MollieMakes. They let me know that the magazine was going to launch a wedding focused magazine, and wanted to feature Melissa and Ryan's wedding! I am so flattered that they chose one of my all-time favorite images for the cover shot. If you're interested in the print version, you can pick that up at Michael's. Otherwise, check out the e-magazine here.
Bex and Marcel's summer wedding was featured on The Knot this week! I just loved all of the unique touches Bex included in her wedding day. Almost all of the wedding day details were DIY and she had so much help and support from her dear friends and family. They got married at the Portola Inn in Atascadero, a lovely wooded area that had spectacular light.
So many engagement sessions happening right now! Jenn and Robert will be getting married this fall at the Gray Matter Museum of Art, a new wedding venue in Newport Beach, an exclusive venue for The Event Loft. Jenn really wanted to incorporate something fun into their shoot…and what's more fun than 3 dozen balloons?! They wanted to have their session on Balboa Island because that's where Robert proposed. It was really a great time perusing the alleys and various backdrops for our session. Thanks for getting sandy with me guys!
Can we talk about how amazing Jenn's engagement ring is?! It's gone through 4 generations in Robert's family, and each time it's passed on, it gets a new setting. Jenn wanted to make sure we captured the essence of the ring before it gets reset for their wedding.

I absolutely LOVE this engagement session I shot recently at Crystal Cove state park. It was so much fun, and I was able to get creative with shots because Eric and Miriam are dear friends of mine. I was flattered when they asked me to shoot their engagement photos, since i'll be attending their May wedding, I couldn't be there photographer. We were also incredibly lucky that the sunset on this particular day was just stunning. Enjoy!

Melissa and Ryan were a dream to work with! Here are some more images from the day. Big thanks to Heidi Ryder for assisting!
Emily and Paul met while studying abroad in Australia…and have been connected ever since. They were both in a lovely Monterey wedding I shot this summer, and when Emily asked me to be her photographer, I was thrilled to be working with them again. I flew up to San Francisco for their engagement photos, and we had such a fun time around the city, the weather was unseasonably warm, and we made it to many iconic locations. Thank you Emily + Paul for making my job so easy!
The stars aligned when Shaina asked me to shoot her maternity session. We were originally going to be shooting in her hometown of Orange County, but when she found out I'd be in New York the weekend before, we managed to squeeze in a time for photos. It was marathon Sunday, and the park was jammed with people and barricades. It took a bit of teamwork to find a meeting spot since we were coming from opposite ends of the park. We made ourselves at home in the Ramble. It was just before sunset, and the light was peaking through the trees. Such a perfect afternoon.
It's no secret that I'm trying to incorporate more film into my workflow...so when the itch to put together a styled shoot came on, I had to jump on it. I had the fabulous Elika model for me again, styling by Chelsea Preston and florals by Stephanie Brown. I decided to really challenge myself by shooting indoors and in varying light. I just love the way these unconventional bridal portraits came out! Portra 400 :: Fuji 400H :: Portra 800 :: Tri-X 400
Kristi and Will are two of the most athletic and charismatic people I've had the pleasure of shooting. They were so fun to watch, breaking out into yoga poses on cliffs, and just having an all around great time together. They're both from the East Coast, and I love that this shoot looks like something out of the Hamptons. So organic, fresh, and lively.
I recently photographed newborn baby Sophia, I had such a fun time during the maternity session, that when it came time to do her newborn shoot I couldn't wait! Sophia is an absolutely lovely little girl who made my job so easy! I love photographing newborns because they have so many different facial expressions, and when they sleep, it's positively angelic.
Cinta (sin-ta): crafted with purpose to bring you comfort, function & style. The name Cinta means "love" in Indonesian, "belt" in Spanish, and "hyacinth" in Greek. Cinta is a name so full of culture and personal meaning that when it came up during a brainstorming meeting, it just clicked.
Cinta has been my baby for the past year. I'm still in shock that my simple idea has materialized into an amazing reality. Last summer, during wedding season, I found myself wondering why I didn't have a camera strap that was not only functional, but stylish and comfortable as well. I thought a lot about what I wanted in a strap, drew up some sketches, and asked questions of friends in the apparel industry. It came down to having a sketch, finding materials, and getting a prototype made.
I am proud to present my first style, this 1-inch leather strap is adjustable and has a shoulder pad for added comfort. Straps are available in three colors and expertly hand-crafted in Los Angeles.
I have a few other designs up my sleeve, but for now...I am just incredibly excited about Cinta's debut! Check out the Cinta online store & Facebook page! Every two weeks a photographer will be featured on the Cinta blog...so if you have any favorite photos using your Cinta strap, send them in and you might just be showcased!
HUGE Thank yous are in order to some amazing people who supported me throughout this entire process:
First, a big thank you to my lovely graphic designer, Jenny Ambrose. I have worked with Jenny for the last 2 years on branding for my photography business, and when I had the idea for Cinta, Jenny was the first person I contacted. She is amazing to work with, and I couldn't speak more highly of her!
Dustin Davis, you're a rockstar. Dustin was referred to me by Kristy Behrs of Wreckless Creative (who did my website/blog design). Dustin was a dream to work with and took our design ideas and made the Cinta storefront a reality. I am so impressed by his talents and recommend him to anyone in need of some master coding and design!
Ala Cortez...ahhh...I love you!!! Thank you for shooting the lookbook for me! I am so lucky to call you a friend! And to my lovely models, Megan, Adam and Autym...you three killed it for me! Hope you like seeing your faces everywhere now :)
My wickedly talented cousin, Kevin, who really showed me the ropes early on in the process. I would not have come this far without your help!
And, Vinnie Finn, for shooting all of the product shots for me! You have been amazing throughout this process, and I totally appreciate all of the work you did!
I was pretty surprised when I found out that I would have an image in the May issue of Better Homes and Gardens. The lovely, Jordan Reid, was one of three bloggers chosen to talk about her favorite cleaning products. The profile photo they chose to feature in the article was one I took of her and her adorable family last year. I didn't receive photo credit, which is unfortunate, but I am just so happy to see one of my images in print!
It's quite intimidating photographing another photographer, especially someone I highly respect as a film photographer! Rachel and her family modeled for FIND LA a few weeks ago. Her adorable daughter, Nova, stole all of our hearts. Rachel is expecting a baby boy in a couple of weeks, so it was really nice getting to capture some moments of their family while they are still three.
Mike and Brit were models for the FIND LA workshop I attended in January. They were gracious enough to model in their wedding attire, everything about their portraits was perfect. The light was incredible -- and how cool do they look? I just love the look of film, it truly captures the colors of the day.
Stephanie is expecting a baby girl next month, so I thought I should blog part of her session. We started indoors and made our way to the beach. It was an unseasonably warm day, so we were able to take some lovely relaxed shots.
